CARWAKE // INSTALL GUIDE

BEFORE YOU START

Thanks for picking up the CarWake DemonEye LED Kit. This guide walks you through a full install, side by side — plan on roughly 45–90 minutes per headlight the first time. No dealership, no shop bill. Just you, a set of basic tools, and a garage.

Read this first: Demon-eye lighting is a cosmetic accent — but this kit is also a functional light unit, so treat the wiring step with the same care as any other light install. It is designed to sync with your DRL/parking circuit and automatically step aside when your main headlights (low/high beam) are on, so your real night-driving illumination is never affected. CarWake kits are intended for show, meet, and off-road/track use — check your local regulations before running any non-stock lighting on public roads.

WHAT'S IN THE BOX

ItemQty
DemonEye projector lens modules (remote-programmable iris display)2
Controller — drives both lenses in sync (1-to-2)1
Labeled wiring harness (power / ground / signal)1 set
Wireless remote1
Mounting brackets & hardware1 set

One controller drives both lens modules simultaneously, so your left and right lights always stay in sync — modes are selected from the remote, no physical disc-swapping required.

TOOLS YOU'LL NEED

  • Phillips & flathead screwdrivers, trim/panel removal tool
  • Heat gun or hair dryer (for opening and resealing housings, if your headlight is glued shut)
  • Butyl sealant strip or headlight-safe silicone — not included in the kit, pick one up before you start; you will need it to reseal the housing
  • Electrical tape or heat-shrink tubing, wire strippers
  • Multimeter (optional, but useful for confirming power before you commit wiring)
  • Clean microfiber cloth

INSTALLATION, STEP BY STEP

Work one headlight at a time so you always have a finished reference side. Repeat the full sequence on the second unit.

1

Access the headlight

Remove the headlight assembly (or open your access panel, if your housing has one) following your vehicle's standard headlight-removal process. If the housing is sealed, gently warm the seam before separating the lens.

2

Locate the projector

Find the main reflector/projector inside the housing — this is where the DemonEye unit will sit.

3

Mount the lens unit

Fit the DemonEye projector lens over the reflector, centered and facing straight forward, and secure it with the included brackets. Fit the LED ring around the projector (or behind the lens, depending on your kit variant).

4

Wire to the controller

Both lens modules run off the single controller — connect the left and right harnesses to the labeled power, ground, and signal connectors so the two eyes stay synchronized. Mount the controller somewhere dry and secure (near the battery or inside the headlight bucket), then connect it to your power source of choice: DRL or parking-light power for always-on daily use, or a dedicated switched line if you'd rather the eyes only come on for meets and shoots.

5

Pick your mode

Power on and use the wireless remote to cycle through the six lighting modes. Because one controller drives both lenses, each press changes the left and right eye together. See the full mode guide further down this page.

6

Seal, test, repeat

Reseal the housing, reinstall the assembly, and power on to confirm the eyes light correctly and your main headlights still work normally. Once confirmed working, repeat steps 1–6 on the other headlight.

Pro tip: On a full dry-run test — module connected, remote paired — before you reseal the housing. It is much easier to fix a loose connector on the bench than after everything is closed back up.

HOW IT WORKS

Each lens module is a projector housing built around a small remote-programmable LED display rather than a static bulb — it reads as a glowing three-dimensional eye that looks bold when lit and subtle when off.

This is a 1-to-2 synchronized kit: a single controller drives both lens modules at once, so the left and right eye always show the same mode at the same time. The controller also manages timing, so the demon-eye effect steps back whenever your main headlights are on and normal road illumination stays untouched.

CHOOSING YOUR MODE

The kit ships with six lighting modes, all switched instantly from the remote — no disassembly and no physical disc-swapping needed. Both eyes change together.

WIRING MODES

Separate from the remote's mode selection, how you wire the controller decides when the eyes are allowed to turn on at all:

  • DRL-linked: Eyes glow whenever your daytime running lights are active — the most always-on setup.
  • Parking-linked: Eyes activate with the parking lights and switch off during full headlight use.
  • Show-only: Wired to a dedicated switched line so the eyes only come on when wanted — ideal for meets, shoots, and off-road use.

TROUBLESHOOTING & FAQ

IssueWhat to check
Eyes don't light up Confirm the controller has a solid ground and is receiving power on the tapped wire; test the circuit with a multimeter before re-checking harness connectors.
Flickering Usually a loose or partially seated connector; reseat every harness connection and add dielectric grease if the install sees rain or heavy wash exposure.
One side works, the other doesn't Both lenses run off the same controller, so this is almost always the second lens harness — check it is fully seated in its controller port and compare it against the working side. A single dead side is a connection issue far more often than a faulty part.
Eyes out of sync with each other Power the controller down for ten seconds and back up so both lens modules re-initialise together; if it persists, reseat both harness plugs at the controller.
Eyes stay on with high beams Double check the unit is wired to DRL/parking and not an always-hot line if you want the auto-dim-with-main-beam behavior.
Remote won't switch modes Confirm the remote and controller are paired, within range, and that the controller has solid power; the mode button only responds once the unit is powered on.
Condensation inside the housing Make sure the housing is fully resealed with no gaps, and let it sit closed for a few hours before driving in wet conditions.
